DESCRIPTION
One Son is an X-Files VHS tape released in 1999, which contains two episodes from season 6: Two Fathers and One Son.
Two Fathers and One Son are a two-part story arc from The X-Files (Season 6, Episodes 11 and 12) that delve into the origins of the alien conspiracy and the secretive Syndicate.
Two Fathers (Season 6, Episode 11)
The episode begins with the discovery of an alien-human hybrid, Cassandra Spender, who had been missing and is now mysteriously returned. Cassandra is considered the first successful hybrid, which means the alien colonists can proceed with their plan to take over Earth. The Syndicate, a shadowy group working with the aliens, is now in panic, fearing that their time is running out.
Assistant Director Walter Skinner, who has been investigating the Syndicate, begins to close in on their activities. Meanwhile, Agent Jeffrey Spender, who is torn between loyalty to his mother, Cassandra, and his father, the Syndicate leader known as the Cigarette Smoking Man, is forced to make difficult decisions. The episode ends with the revelation that the Cigarette Smoking Man has orchestrated many events to maintain control over the Syndicate and the world.
One Son (Season 6, Episode 12)
This episode picks up where Two Fathers left off, with Mulder and Scully uncovering more about the Syndicate's role in the alien colonization plan. The agents learn that the Syndicate made a pact with the aliens years ago, agreeing to work on creating a human-alien hybrid in exchange for their own survival during the impending colonization.
Cassandra Spender is revealed to be the key to this plan, but her presence now threatens the Syndicate's very existence. Mulder and Scully try to expose the conspiracy, but they face resistance from within the FBI and from the Syndicate itself.
As the colonization deadline approaches, the Syndicate members are killed by the alien rebels, who oppose the colonization and want to prevent the hybridization project. The episode ends with the death of Cassandra Spender and Jeffrey Spender's realization that his father is responsible for the betrayal and death of his mother. The Cigarette Smoking Man's plans are thwarted, but the larger threat of colonization still looms over Earth.
This two-part arc serves as a major turning point in The X-Files, bringing many of the show's long-running conspiracies to the forefront while leaving the future of the alien colonization unresolved.
