SUMMARY
In The X-Files comic Topps Comics #7: Trepanning Opera, FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully investigate a series of bizarre deaths linked to trepanning, an ancient practice of drilling holes in the skull. The victims, who had recently undergone trepanation, exhibit unusual behavior before their deaths, including heightened intelligence and psychic abilities.
As Mulder and Scully delve deeper, they encounter a secret society that believes trepanation unlocks the mind's hidden potential. Mulder is intrigued by the possibility of expanding human consciousness, while Scully remains skeptical, focused on the medical dangers and potential criminality involved.
The case takes a darker turn when Mulder is lured into undergoing the procedure himself. Scully must race against time to save him and stop the sinister group behind the deaths. The comic explores themes of the limits of human potential, the dangers of radical beliefs, and the eternal tension between science and the paranormal.
In the end, Mulder is saved, but the case remains unresolved, leaving lingering questions about the true nature of the group's intentions and the potential powers unlocked by trepanning. The story combines psychological horror with the classic investigative elements that define The X-Files.
