DESCRIPTION
Deadalive is an X-Files VHS tape released in 2000.
This Is Not Happening (Season 8, Episode 14) and Deadalive (Season 8, Episode 15) are crucial episodes in The X-Files that address the aftermath of Fox Mulder's abduction and the series' ongoing exploration of alien conspiracies and resurrection.
This Is Not Happening
This Is Not Happening begins with the discovery of several abductees being returned, but in a severely injured and near-death state. These abductees were missing for months, and their return raises hope for Dana Scully, who is desperately searching for Mulder after his alien abduction.
FBI Agents John Doggett and Monica Reyes, who are leading the investigation, follow a lead to a remote Montana town where the abductees have been found. There, they encounter Jeremiah Smith, a mysterious healer with apparent alien powers who is trying to save the returned abductees. However, despite his efforts, many of the returned abductees die from their injuries, leaving Scully increasingly anxious about Mulder's fate.
The episode reaches an emotional climax when Mulder is found in the woods, lifeless and seemingly beyond help. Scully is devastated, struggling to accept what has happened, while Reyes and Doggett are determined to find answers. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, with Scully mourning Mulder's apparent death, leaving his fate uncertain and the viewers questioning whether he is truly gone.
Deadalive
Deadalive picks up three months after the events of This Is Not Happening. Mulder's body is exhumed for an autopsy, as Doggett and Scully grapple with the reality of his death. However, they are stunned to discover that Mulder's body shows signs of life, despite being buried for months.
Mulder is rushed to a medical facility, where doctors struggle to understand his miraculous revival. It becomes clear that Mulder's resurrection is linked to the alien virus and the experiments conducted on the abductees. At the same time, Billy Miles, another abductee who was presumed dead, also revives, revealing that he has been transformed into a super-soldier, a nearly indestructible human-alien hybrid.
As Scully and Doggett work to understand the implications of Mulder's resurrection, they uncover a conspiracy to use the alien virus to create more super-soldiers. Krycek, who is manipulating events from the shadows, attempts to kill Mulder to prevent him from exposing the truth.
In a dramatic confrontation, Krycek is stopped, and Mulder is successfully revived, although the full extent of his transformation and the consequences of his resurrection remain uncertain. The episode ends with Mulder finally waking up, reuniting with Scully, who is overwhelmed with relief and joy. However, the events leave them both aware that the alien conspiracy is far from over and that Mulder's return may come with unforeseen challenges.
These episodes are pivotal in The X-Files narrative, bringing Mulder back into the storyline while deepening the mystery surrounding the alien virus and the super-soldier program. They also further explore the emotional toll of the series' long-running alien conspiracy on its central characters, particularly Scully.
