SUMMARY
The X-Files novelization titled Eve is based on the 11th episode of Season 1, which originally aired in December 1993.
STORY
The novelization follows FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully as they investigate a series of unusual and identical murders on opposite sides of the United States. Two men are found dead, with a significant amount of their blood drained, in what appear to be ritualistic killings. Strangely, both men’s daughters, who live in different states, look identical and were present at the scene of their respective fathers' deaths.
Mulder suspects that the murders may be linked to alien abductions and genetic experiments, recalling a case known as "The Litchfield Experiment", where scientists in the 1950s attempted to create genetically enhanced humans. The experiment resulted in highly intelligent but dangerous individuals, referred to as "Eves" for women and "Adams" for men. Mulder believes the girls might be related to the surviving Eves from that program.
As the investigation unfolds, Mulder and Scully discover that both girls, named Teena Simmons and Cindy Reardon, were created as part of a genetic cloning experiment. They are not normal children but are the products of a highly classified government project that was believed to have been shut down.
The agents encounter one of the original Eves, Eve 6, who had been locked away in a high-security psychiatric facility. Eve 6 reveals that the girls, Teena and Cindy, are the next generation of Eves, and they possess superior intelligence as well as psychopathic tendencies. The girls had orchestrated the murders of their fathers in cold blood, displaying a dangerous and calculating nature.
In a climactic confrontation, the two girls attempt to poison Mulder and Scully, but the agents manage to capture them before they can succeed. The story ends with the girls being taken into custody, though there remains an unsettling sense that their danger has not been fully contained.
