Hated it.

Understood why safety wise. But I never liked it.

I never understood it at first. Bringing back Jeffrey Spender as some horribly malformed shadow of his past self just so he could warn Scully about what the Supersoldiers wanted, and that they'd never give up the chase was fine. What I usually didn't think was fine was her taking his word immediately and not turning to Doggett or Reyes for support before hand and just giving up her only child like that (some may disagree). Especially after losing her father, then her sister Melissa, then losing Mulder, then losing Emily, then losing Mulder again, I can't imagine why she'd put herself up for that pain again.

But it's all normalcy, I wrote a big reddit post about why it sort of makes sense in Scully's head especially in reflection to what she's dealing with in season 9. But I think it should've been a different person asking Scully to give up William. Spender could've given William the injection as normal but maybe Reyes or even if she'd had a vivid hallucination of Mulder would've made it much much better.
