Didn't like them. They seemed way too full of purple prose. Dearest Dana drew me right out of the story.
Ahaha, didn't think of the "Dearest Dana". I should use that one in my working emails. "Dearest Client,".
I also hated those emails. It really didn't feel like Mulder and Scully writing. At that moment, we didn't even have a kiss from M&S, and suddenly we go to the full other side with poetic letters, I mean, comon!
"I'm lonely, Dana".
We can see in the series that Mulder and Scully are both extremely strong characters. They would never open up that way and suddenly scream that they are lonely.
Also, I think that season 9 should have avoided Mulder entirely. Mulder was the centric piece of season 8 and that made sense (and was fun to watch). Trying again to add the search for Mulder in season 9 felt really terribly bad.
When I first heard of the title ("Trust No 1"), I was super excited. I would have never imagined having to sit through such a bad episode.
